LG did not waste a single penny on designing this phone, it looks like an exact copy of the LG G3 with a 5-inch screen instead of a 5.5-inch one. From the Nexus 4 to the current gen G3, LG has been moving forward in terms of build quality and the story's the same with the LG G3 Beat. I haven't tried any because I love the camera which will not be the same if AOSP-based rom was used I really can't recommend AOSP-based roms.
I used it for a few days but my battery life got worse so I switched. I recommend CloudyG3 or AndroidNow HD if you go for stock-based but I've read ChupaChups was also good. If you're from the US, I don't think Lollipop stock-based supports those devices yet but there are AOSP-based roms and Kitkat roms that are in XDA.

Battery life can be improved due to Greenify (works for non-root but better if rooted, even better with Xposed) and Amplify (limit the wakelocks). Lots of tweaks you can do, both for eye candy and functionality. If you plan to just stay rooted or simply stay in Kitkat, look into Xposed.
